![]() Cluster size is optimized to be 4, which is smaller than that in the conventional SRAM- and multiplexer-based RLCA. We evaluate the effect of the cluster size and the segment length on the atom-switch-based RLCA to confirm the optimal point considering area-delay product. In this paper, we investigate the fine-grain cell architecture using atom switch which is one of the NVMs. (small cluster size), which advantageously enables a highly efficient cell usage, resulting in compact circuit for applications. More importantly, the compactness of NVM allows fine-grain logic cells. And non-volatility reduces the stand-by power. Replacing a CMOS switch element composed of a SRAM and a pass transistor by a NVM reduces chip size. Įmerging nonvolatile memories (NVMs) have a potential to overcome the issues in the conventional static random-access memory (SRAM) based reconfigurable logic cell arrays (RLCAs). Any user would be able to acquire as much network resources as are available at any given moment, and all users would. That is, they can use the network at any time without first negotiating a "traffic contract" with the network. With proper flow control, computer users would be able to use an ATM network in the same way as they have been using conventional LANs. Introduction Flow control is essential for asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) networks in providing "best-effort" services, or ABR (Available Bit Rate) services in the ATM Forum terminology. ![]() This paper gives an overview of credit flow control and presents performance results from simulations. Adaptive buffer allocation improves sharing by allowing dynamic allocation of buffer space to multiple VCs sharing the same buffer pool. In credit-based flow control for ATM networks, switch buffer space is first allocated to each virtual circuit (VC) and then credit control is applied to the VC to prevent possible buffer overflow. Evaluation of the system through simulations shows that 4 FlexRAM chips often allow a workstation to run 25–40 times faster. We describe FlexRAMs design and floorplan, and the resulting memory system. Based on the requirements of these applications and current technological constraints, we design a PIM chip and a PIM-based memory system. Since wide usability is crucial, we identify and analyze a range of real applications for PIM. To satisfy requirements of general purpose and low programming cost, we place the PIM chips in the memory system and let them default to plain DRAM if the application is not enabled for intelligent memory. The contribution of this paper is to explore one way to use the current state-of-the-art MLD technology for general-purpose computers. Major advances in Merged Logic DRAM (MLD) technology coupled with the popularization of memory-intensive applications provide fertile ground for architectures based on Intelligent Memory (IRAM) or Processors-in-Memory (PIM).
